There’s been no shortage of attempts to build a workable two-wheel-drive bicycle over the years, but this latest effort from Double of Japan looks one of the most compelling yet.
Over the years, there have been several attempts to create a functional two-wheel-drive bicycle, but this latest one from Double of Japan appears to be one of the most intriguing thus far.
The bizarre two-wheel drive system uses a special hub to drive a chain shielded by a length of tubing to the front of the bike. The hub has a standard free hub on the drive side and a fixed gear behind the rotor.
Then, this powers what we presume to be a CV joint, which is connected to another chain on the front wheel’s non-drive side, where a freewheel is installed.
